PRISM, PRISON, PODIUM
2021

This sculpture raises themes around our relationship with nature through its materiality and structure. The frame both ‘traps’ and ‘elevates’ the tree, supports it whilst holding it captive, allowing the innately sculptural qualities of branches and roots to be appreciated. Contrasting this is the destruction of its uprooting and the cut branches, which echo the process of making plywood.

Working from this piece, I also made Iteration Series; 21 drawings that reimagine aspects of the sculpture.
